Training & Recruitment Initiative for Admission to Leading Law Schools (TRIALS)

​

Trials is a residential scholarship program that helps talented and motivated college students of modest means gain admission to the nation’s leading law schools. This rigorous five-week summer course enhances opportunities for students of underrepresented backgrounds by bolstering their skills and focusing their goals.

 

Trials is a unique partnership of NYU School of Law, Harvard Law School, and the Advantage Testing Foundation. It is a fully subsidized summer study program for students of modest means whose backgrounds are currently underrepresented at the nation’s top law schools.

 

Charles Hamilton Houston Law School Prep. Institute

 

CHH offers its students a rigorous introduction to law study. During the program's first week, CHH students are introduced to the American judicial system, the civil litigation process, legal vocabulary and surgical case and legal analysis techniques. The balance of the program covers the following first year law school courses Civil Procedure, Torts, Contracts, Research and Writing, and Appellate Advocacy. 

 

Council of Legal Education Oppertunity (CLEO)

 

​The Council On Legal Education Opportunity (CLEO) offers The CLEO College
Scholars Program. Its purpose is to identify, motivate and prepare students for
a career in the legal profession. The College Scholars program aims to help
low-income, minority and otherwise disadvantaged students become competitive
law school applicants. Committed students can learn how to successfully
navigate the law school admission process and underwrite their success in law
school by participating in the College Scholars program​

Sponsors for Educational Opportunity (SEO)

 

SEO’s Law program is the only program of its kind to offer 0L (pre-law school students) an opportunity to intern with a top firm. Interns will observe and experience first-hand the day-to-day duties and responsibilities of corporate attorneys at some of the nation’s most prestigious firms.

 

SEO Interns participate in the SEO Law Institute, an exclusive two-week lecture series and networking forum led by top corporate lawyers and distinguished law school professors. Conceived in partnership with our law partners, the Institute teaches pre-law interns the skills necessary to excel during their first year in law school.

 

 

Congressional Black Caucus Foundation, Inc. (CBC) 

 

Program participants receive housing, a stipend, office placements, and opportunities to meet and interact with professional politicos and leaders working in all branches of government. Additionally, they are eligible for scholarships for prestigious public policy graduate programs, such as the University of California-Berkeley's Goldman School of Public Policy, UC Hastings College of the Law, and they are actively recruited by executive branch agencies such as the State Department and the Office of Management and Budget.

Archer Fellowship Program

 

The Archer Fellowship Program provides the opportunity to work in our nation’s capital while making progress toward a UT degree. Home to many government, media, and cultural institutions, Washington, D.C., offers unparalleled opportunities for career development and cultural enrichment. Moreover, the program’s unique combination of academic and experiential learning allows students to combine their intellectual and professional interests in a challenging academic environment.

 

Archer Fellows study and intern in Washington, D.C., during a fall or spring semester. Past internship placements include the White House, the Supreme Court, the World Bank, National Public Radio, and the National Council of La Raza (NCLR), among many others.

The Washington Center (Federal Diversity Internship Initiative)

 

Each year, The Washington Center works with select government agencies to provide well-qualified students with fully-funded, paid internship opportunities. For many of our partnering agencies, internships serve as a means for development of future federal employees. By applying today, you are not only exploring the possibility of enhancing your summer with experiential learning, but also opening the door to possible career opportunities with the federal government.
